Located along Tallahassee's eastern border is one of the most unique greenway and open spaces in North Florida. The Miccosukee Greenway consists of a linear design covering over 5 miles adjacent to the historical Miccosukee Canopy Road. Part of the conceptual plan for this greenway was to serve as a buffer from ever encroaching development, protecting this living treasure as well as several turn of the century home sites, an 1800's cemetery and hints of earlier trade roads that cross hatch the property. This venture was the first step in Leon County developing a Greenways and Trails Master Plan, which intends to link the entire breadth and width of Leon County by a trail system accessible by bicycle, horse or on foot.
